Week 8 EOC: Creative Content

For my creative content, I decided to do a billboard. Since my vodka will only be available during the holidays, I decided to do a Christmas theme.

Since I am a fashion student, I want to make the model look very chic. I’m thinking that setting is in front of a fireplace with a Christmas tree. Instead of milk and cookies for Santa, a cocktail drink with some snacks would be placed out for him.

Week 6 EOC: Me x 3

The three products that I buy that define me and that I purchase on a regular basis are: Maybelline eyeliner, Eskinol facial cleansing toner, and nail polish.

Most girls have a shoe fetish. Girls with shoe fetishes probably have a library filled with shoes. I on the other hand have a nail polish fetish. For a skinny girl like me, I have really long fingers. As a kid, adults used to criticize how I have adult looking hands for a 13 year old. When high school came and we were allowed to wear nail polish, I developed my nail polish fetish. Although, I always had a thing for nail polish since I was probably 5 years old, but at the time my mom said I was too young to wear nail polish. It defines me because it’s part of my aesthetic with fashion and art. I paint on my spare time, and the feeling of painting on my nails equally defines my love for fashion and art. I enjoy because it distracts my long fingers and it just makes it look cool. I am always creative with it by painting stripes on it or glitter it up.

One of the only forms of makeup that I wear is Maybelline eyeliner. It helps define my big eyes which some of my friends refer to as puppy eyes. The only time I don’t wear eyeliner is if my job doesn’t allow it or against dress code policy. I don’t like not wearing because it makes me look pale and sick. To me, I feel my best facial features are my eyes.

Eskinol facial cleansing toner is one of my life’s biggest essentials. I easily break out when I am stressed. When I was 18 or 19, I had a very bad acne problem. My friends and family constantly picked on me for it. I tried all these other products to help me clear my face but it was never any good. My aunt first introduced to a facial cleansing toner. Once I started using it daily, my acne cleared up. When I’m at home, I use it every time my face feels oily and dirty. Now my aunts and friends always compliment on clean my face looks and it always boost up my confidence and I can’t live without it.

Week 4 EOC: There's an app for that

An application that I think would be cool on a cell phone would be a lie detector while talking to whoever we are talking to. Of course we all don't like a liar. Those lie detector that you patch on a person to see if they are telling the truth or not. It could measure a person's tone of voice, heart rate, stress levels, and whatever it is people use to catch someone's bluff. Even though there aren't very many people that talk on the phone nowadays, and 60% of them just text messaging. But for those that actually talk on the phone and are skeptical with the person they are talking with, they’ll be able to find out if the other person is telling the truth or not. Turns out there is an app for that. There is one for the iPhone. However the one for the iPhone is a little different. It is almost similar to an actual lie detector. It asks you a series of questions, first if you are male or female. Then a few other questions for example: “do you own a car?” It measures your stress levels.  The Galaxy Nexus phone also has a similar app. But not quite an app for when having a regular conversation with someone. Even though there are many apps that are not really a necessity, or that just plain stupid, I’m sure a lie detector app will help someone if their significant others are cheating on them or just a close friend not telling the truth. Despite our advance technology today, I’m sure many other cell phone manufacturers will come up with an app for that and will help maybe the police department or military in the long run. It may not always be accurate but it sure may a little.

Week 3 EOC: Making Money For Good

Oprah Winfrey is one of the world's generous famous figures. She started off very poor. Her first pets were cockroaches. Eww right? She can relate to many people that went from rags to riches. She went through poverty and now she has become one of the world’s billionaires. She knows how to give back to her community. Her talk show was on the air for 25 years. Almost as old as I am. Her talk show didn’t really start off well. She didn’t give cars to a studio audience the first season. But as time went by, she became very successful with her show. She has her own magazine “O” which demographics are women that stay at home or are working mothers. Not only did she interview the biggest stars and figures in Hollywood she always thought of gifts for her audience. Most of the episodes on her show, usually break the audiences in tears. I usually cry when I watched her shows and the reactions the audience have are just priceless. During a season premiere, she surprised the audience that everyone is going home with a car. Of course she always does that famous yell of hers that thrills everyone. She helped pop star and from Glee’s Charice Pempengco’s career sky rocketed, who was just a nobody from the Philippines and never gave her chance to show her talent to the world. Oprah was there for because she was amazed by her life’s story and of course her amazing voice from such a tiny person. Oprah has built a school in Africa for young girls that were unable to go to school because their parents couldn’t afford it. Or most of the girls didn’t even have parents, so Oprah became their mother because she believed they deserve a good education. There was a family whose house got burned down and they had nowhere to go. Oprah gave them a house. Now that episode really made me cry. She helped victims of sexual abuse move on and overcome their pain. Now that her talk show has ended, she now runs her new TV network OWN which have TV shows that help us with our own issues. She still continues to help the world as much she can and she is one of the biggest influential people of our time.

Week 3 EOC: My Demographic

"Millennials. Both the baby boomers and Gen Xers will one day be passing the reins to the Millennials (also called Generation Y or the echo boomers). Born between 1977 and 2000, these children of the baby boomers number 83 million, dwarfing the Gen Xers and larger even than the baby boomer segment. This group includes several age cohorts: tweens (aged 9–12), teens (13–18), and young adults (19–32). With total purchasing power of more than $733 billion, the Millennials make up a huge and attractive market. One thing that all of the Millennials have in common is their utter fluency and comfort with digital technology. They don’t just embrace technology, it’s a way of life. The Millennials were the first generation to grow up in a world filled with computers, cellphones, satellite TV, iPods, and online social networks. A recent study found that 91 percent of Millennials are on the Web, making up 32 percent of all U.S. Internet users. According to another study, 77 percent of Millennials frequent social networking sites and 71 percent use instant messaging. “All generations are comfortable with technology, but this is the generation that’s been formed by technology,” says a Yahoo! executive. For them, “it’s not something separate. It’s just something they do. (page 17)"

I never would have thought that I would grow up in the digital age. I would watch movies about cell phones, flying cars (which I would still like to see), video phones, and other digital devices. My parents who were born in the baby boom generation told me that he never thought all the technology we have now didn't think it would ever happen. I think it's kinda cool to say that I grew up in the birth of the digital age, where it all began. My parents would ramble on how lucky I am to be living in this lifetime because a lot of the things that I have now, they didn't have back then. Except for colored televisions, telephones, and air-conditioned cars. Before the internet became a way of life, I had to go to the local public library to do a research project. Sometimes a specific book I need wouldn't be available, and I would have to wait until the book is returned for like another 2 weeks. Now when I need a specific piece of information, I can just look it up on my blackberry or on my laptop within seconds. The best part about it is free unlimited information. Another best thing about living in this generation, are that people are free to be themselves. Of course there will always be cruel judgment. Gays and lesbians no longer have to hide their sexuality. We don’t always have to dress the same as people did in the 1950’s or like in “I Love Lucy.” There are more independent working women. I think my generation was the birth of change for the good. Racism is not tolerated even though there are many that are. In classrooms there are so many diverse students with parents from different countries. “Freedom never goes out of style.”
