Week 3 EOC: Making Money For Good

Oprah Winfrey is one of the world's generous famous figures. She started off very poor. Her first pets were cockroaches. Eww right? She can relate to many people that went from rags to riches. She went through poverty and now she has become one of the world’s billionaires. She knows how to give back to her community. Her talk show was on the air for 25 years. Almost as old as I am. Her talk show didn’t really start off well. She didn’t give cars to a studio audience the first season. But as time went by, she became very successful with her show. She has her own magazine “O” which demographics are women that stay at home or are working mothers. Not only did she interview the biggest stars and figures in Hollywood she always thought of gifts for her audience. Most of the episodes on her show, usually break the audiences in tears. I usually cry when I watched her shows and the reactions the audience have are just priceless. During a season premiere, she surprised the audience that everyone is going home with a car. Of course she always does that famous yell of hers that thrills everyone. She helped pop star and from Glee’s Charice Pempengco’s career sky rocketed, who was just a nobody from the Philippines and never gave her chance to show her talent to the world. Oprah was there for because she was amazed by her life’s story and of course her amazing voice from such a tiny person. Oprah has built a school in Africa for young girls that were unable to go to school because their parents couldn’t afford it. Or most of the girls didn’t even have parents, so Oprah became their mother because she believed they deserve a good education. There was a family whose house got burned down and they had nowhere to go. Oprah gave them a house. Now that episode really made me cry. She helped victims of sexual abuse move on and overcome their pain. Now that her talk show has ended, she now runs her new TV network OWN which have TV shows that help us with our own issues. She still continues to help the world as much she can and she is one of the biggest influential people of our time.
